How to Easily take off Your Surf Wetsuit (Front Zip Opening)

In brief

Taking off a surf wetsuit can seem complicated, especially when you are still a novice. However, with a few simple tips, you will quickly become an expert. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to easily remove your wetsuit with a front zip opening, while maintaining your privacy and comfort.

Step 1: Fully Open the Zip

The first thing to do is to make sure the zipper is completely open. This will give you more room to maneuver to remove the wetsuit without damaging it. Take your time to unzip it completely.

Step 2: Remove the Collar

Once the zipper is open, gently pull your head out of the neckline. Do not be afraid to apply a bit of force, the material is designed to stretch without tearing. Once your head is free, you will already feel more comfortable.

Step 3: Remove the Left Shoulder

Start by removing the left shoulder. Pull the wetsuit down slightly to completely free your left shoulder. By proceeding step by step, you will avoid putting too much pressure on the wetsuit. But why the left shoulder first? Simply because the front zip of Wildsuits closes from left to right; the left side will give you more room to maneuver. You can also remove the wetsuit from your left arm (see photos below), but for even more ease in removing your surf wetsuit, wait until step 5 to remove your arms from the wetsuit.

Step 4: Remove the Right Shoulder

Repeat the same movement for the right shoulder. Once both shoulders are free, pull the wetsuit down to your torso. At this point, most of the work is done.

Step 5: Remove the Arms

Gradually remove the arms, starting with the left arm and then the right. Pull gently but firmly to avoid damaging the seams.

Step 6: Remove the Legs

The final step is to remove the wetsuit from your legs. Proceed one leg at a time, pulling the wetsuit down until it is completely removed.

Tip: Use a Surf Poncho

To keep your privacy and stay warm while removing your wetsuit, we recommend using a surf poncho. This practical accessory allows you to change discreetly, even on a crowded beach.

Prolong the Life of Your Wetsuit

To prolong the life of your surf wetsuit, remember to rinse it with fresh water after each use and let it dry in the shade. Avoid exposing it directly to the sun for long periods, as this can deteriorate the materials.
