A unique country unlike any other, and it's the homeland of our pro surfer Robertney Barros (you can check out his interview directly on our website). Cape Verde is a welcoming territory, thanks to its blue oceans and black sandy beaches that are typical postcard views. Additionally, its abundant and authentic nature makes it a place like no other. The incredibly pleasant weather will only make you want to get in the water! And if I told you there are perfect waves just two hundred meters away, but I'll get back to that in a moment...<br><br>For the more adventurous, there are numerous hiking opportunities on each of the country's islands. What could be better for a vacation where everyone in the family can enjoy themselves? Plus, if you're lucky, you might witness the hatching of sea turtles right before your eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A summary of Cape Verde<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You'll find a perfect blend of relaxation and sunbathing. The population will welcome you with open arms, crime is virtually non-existent, and traditional shops are scattered throughout the archipelago, ensuring you lack for nothing, or maybe just time to do everything you planned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a few numbers, Cape Verde is:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li> 4,033.0 square kilometers in size, spread across ten islands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> 2 hours behind during winter and 3 hours during summer compared to France.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> An average temperature of 24\u00b0C year-round and a minimum temperature of 19\u00b0C (meaning it's pretty warm all year long).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> A total population of 583,255 in 2020.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the website \"combien co\u00fbte\" (how much does it cost), the cost of living in Cape Verde is 41% cheaper than in France. As a comparison, an average lunch at a restaurant on the island of Boa Vista costs around \u20ac4.3, compared to approximately \u20ac10 in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cape Verdeans have big hearts and will welcome you with open arms as long as you respect the places and don't take advantage of their kindness. Be mindful not to overindulge in local delicacies and to avoid wasting primary resources, as potable water, for instance, is becoming increasingly scarce. There are windy spots and calm small coves. You should also consider the wave season, which coincides with the season of strong winds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For surfer and kite surfer friends, here are the spots that will satisfy you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong><em>Salaman\u00e7a<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A spot for all levels, whether you want to surf or kite. The conditions change throughout the year, with regular swells and winds of varying intensity (you can check with Robertney).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on the island of S\u00e3o Vicente, specifically in the Calhau region, it's one of the most famous spots in the country. Despite its reputation, the spot remains accessible and not overly crowded. It's a beach break that can also satisfy kite surfers during windy periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong><em>Ponta preta<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The essential spot par excellence. Every kite surfer should experience this mythical spot in Cape Verde. A regular wave, but most importantly, constant wind that allows you to practice this sport almost all year round. Of course, the picturesque surroundings turn your session on this point break into an extraordinary dream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attention! It's not a spot for all levels. It's quite challenging with strong swells and currents. The powerful wind makes it difficult for surfers to paddle into the waves but provides ideal conditions for kite surfing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several windsurfing competitions have been held here over the years, including the World Championship that attracted numerous windsurfers and kite surfers. This spot has become emblematic and legendary in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong><em>Ponta preta \u2013 esquerda (left)<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wildsuits.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/robertney-surf-1024x619.jpg\" alt=\"cap-vert surf\" class=\"wp-image-36864\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><meta charset=\"utf-8\">Photographe : <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ishootu_surfphoto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ishootu_surfphoto<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another well-known spot in the archipelago, Monte Le\u00e3o (specifically to the left of Ponta Preta) is located on the island of Sal, which means \"salt\" in English. In a bay where you can easily spot the silhouette of a lion, made of volcanic rocks, lying in the water. Beware, this is not a spot for everyone. It's better suited for experienced surfers, unless you want to end up in the hospital. With a good level, you can have a blast in magical conditions and ride some massive barrels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong><em>Santa Maria<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A mix of reef and white sand that makes this spot one of the most famous in the country. In a bay of about 3 kilometers, the left (and occasionally right) of Santa Maria offers ideal wave length for beginner or intermediate surfers. Add to that the relatively small wave size, and it's perfect for learning the take-off and steering. You'll be accompanied by locals who are very friendly, but of course, you must respect them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong><em>Palmeira<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wildsuits.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/ponta-preta-kitesurf-1-1024x764.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36867\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wildsuits.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/ponta-preta-cap-vert-1-1024x764.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36869\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A spot also located on the island of Sal, but more suitable for starting out in surfing or for a simple initiation. It offers small, regular waves, and occasionally larger swells. This spot works almost all the time, except for exceptions (when it's too flat or the wind direction is unfavorable). It's a reef break that mainly offers a long left, allowing you to progress quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only danger is to be mindful of the seabed and potential sharks that might venture too close to the coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong><em>Sandy Beach<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sandy Beach, located on the island of S\u00e3o Vicente, is a deserted spot where you'll feel like you're in a world of your own, whether in the water or on the beach. A south-facing swell provides an exceptional right wave, although it's quite windy (ideal for kite and wind surfers, but it's possible to catch it by paddling for surfers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One drawback, but also an advantage, is that the spot is not easily accessible, so there are not many people in the lineup. It's a little abandoned paradise with no houses around. However, beware of the strong winds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <strong><em>Praia do Curralinho<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on the island of Boa Vista, Curralinho is a well-known spot in Cape Verde that is easily accessible by car (or quad, as you prefer). It's a beach break with a few small and unimportant rocks, suitable for all levels of surfing (especially for beginners). Surfers and kite surfers, don't hesitate to hit the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, it's a peaceful beach with vast stretches of warm sand. Ideal for couples or families looking for tranquility and plenty of vitamin D. There are few tourists bothering you by setting their towels less than 5 meters away from you. I highly recommend it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wildsuits.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/phare-cap-vert-1024x619.jpg\" alt=\"phare au cap-vert\" class=\"wp-image-36871\" width=\"841\" height=\"508\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This country, composed of several wild and natural islands, offers multiple surf and windsurf spots, many of which are kept secret by locals and the surfers who live there.
