But don’t worry – it’s not a manufacturing defect, it’s actually part of your suit’s water evacuation system! Let us explain…

The wetsuits manufactured here at Wildsuits are designed to be exceptionally watertight – in part due to the front zip, which lets in far less water than the basic back zip on older or less technical suits. After testing several zipperless suits, and in line with your feedback, we decided to steer clear of the zip-free design as it seemed apparent that not only did you guys prefer the front zip design, but it was also more effective at keeping water out due to the neoprene underlay directly below the zip that inhibits water penetration.

To further improve the Wildsuits design, Antonio Saraiva and Kalani Lattanzi put their wetsuits through there paces at Nazare in Portugal, where we gathered further knowledge on what works well. Inspired by these big wave surfers, we introduced a flap system around the neck that traps water before it enters your suit during a big wipe out or messy duck dive.

, water ingress is still possible – however, rest assured that the days of the cold flush are over as we’ve created a system to stop the water coming into direct contact with your skin. This is due to the small hole at the back of the suit, that we mentioned previously that acts as a water drainage system.

Le dos de nos combinaisons de surf

BUT IF THE WATER CAN GO OUT, CAN THE WATER COME IN?

If water enters through the collar it will become trapped in the flap of the suit and will simply drain out through the small hole positioned discreetly below the logo on the back. The pressure exerted by the water also makes it impossible for water to enter through the opening – simple, yet oh so effective.

This drainage system is present in each of our models, which you can find here.

Now you know why you have a small hole on your wetsuit; it serves as a valuable water drainage system.
