Despite its growing popularity as a tourist destination, the village has managed to preserve its soul.
The locals, warm and welcoming, are eager to share their culture, especially through their delicious cuisine, where tajine and mint tea take center stage.
The Must-Visit Surf Spots in Taghazout
If Taghazout is known worldwide, it’s because of its waves. Here are three must-visit spots:
- Anchor Point A true legend, this spot offers a powerful and long right-hand wave, ideal for experienced surfers. On days with perfect swell, the atmosphere is electric. The last section of the wave is perfect for hollow wave surfers and bodyboarders.
- Panorama Beach Perfect for beginners, this beach offers gentle, accessible waves, ideal for building confidence. Depending on conditions, this wave can also suit experienced surfers, as it’s quite versatile.
- Banana Point Located a few kilometers south, this spot is known for its consistent waves and relaxed atmosphere. My experience at Anchor Point will remain etched in my memory: perfect waves, a golden light at sunset, and the simple pleasure of sharing the ocean with fellow enthusiasts.

The Skatepark of Taghazout Perched high above the village, the Taghazout skatepark is a must-visit for gliding enthusiasts. Designed to energize the local community and provide an expression space for riders, it features a variety of modules suitable for all levels, all within a sun-drenched setting with stunning ocean views. A true meeting point, its ambiance at sunset is particularly enjoyable. An essential stop to make!
The Surroundings of Taghazout: Between Nature and Culture
Taghazout is more than just surfing. A few kilometers away, Paradise Valley offers a stunning natural spectacle. This canyon, dotted with natural pools and palm trees, is perfect for a day of relaxation and hiking.
It’s a place to discover, whether for a surf trip with friends or for families seeking an authentic Moroccan experience, all while enjoying the beach and the beauty of Morocco's landscapes.
Culture lovers will appreciate a visit to Agadir, located just 20 km away. This port city combines modernity and tradition, particularly through its bustling souk, where you’ll find all sorts of products. The panoramic view from the kasbah is breathtaking. From Taghazout, we recommend taking a shared taxi (10/15 dirhams), which will drop you a 10-minute walk from the souk.
Taghazout Tips
To make the most of your stay, here are a few tips:
- Accommodation: Surf camps and local hostels offer a friendly and affordable experience. You can also find very affordable and comfortable accommodations, such as accessible Airbnb options. Airbnb accesible.
- Cuisine : Don’t miss the freshly grilled fish or the traditional msemen for breakfast. Of course, the various local restaurants in Taghazout will serve you delicious tajines and couscous for around 50-60 dirhams.
- Transport : Renting a car is the best option for exploring the area freely, but it’s not essential. Taghazout and Anchor Point can easily be explored on foot, even with a board under your arm. The many taxis are also an affordable option.

- Sim Card Be mindful of your phone plan, as it is often incompatible, and you might incur additional charges. Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll find stands where you can buy a SIM card. We recommend Inwi, which offers better network coverage in the Agadir area. A minimum of 100 dirhams is sufficient.
